Daymakers have been in business for a while, and during that time we’ve heard a lot of the same questions coming from our customers. We wanted to put together a blog full of moving company FAQs for you to refer to should you have any questions going into your moving day!
Why should I hire a professional moving company?
There are many advantages to hiring a professional moving team like Daymakers. Our customers are always grateful they hired us because we:
- Take the hassle out of moving by packing, moving, and unloading with care
- Are safe, experienced movers who get things done on your schedule
- Have a professional inventory process to ensure all of your items are accounted for
- Do all the heavy lifting for you
- Give you peace of mind that every step of your move is handled with professionalism
Most importantly, we go out of our way to make your moving day spectacular.
How far out from my moving date should I contact a moving company?
We prefer that you contact us at least four to six weeks before your move, if possible. This helps us meet your preferred delivery schedule. If your move is happening in less than six weeks, contact us right away and someone from our Wisconsin or Minnesota team will let you know if we have an opening.
What packing options do you offer?
We do not sell supplies, but we offer full-service packing and unpacking, which does include brand-new supplies. We’ve done this thousands of times so we know how to make the most of your supplies and protect your belongings. Or you can ask about our recycled boxes and packing paper, which are available free to anyone who’s moving with us.
Who should I inform that I’m moving?
It seems like common sense, but make sure you tell family, friends, employer, and others you’re in touch with regularly. You should also update your address with your doctor, bank, credit card companies, and other important places. Make sure you set up mail forwarding with USPS so any mail that’s address to your old home, makes it to your new one.
What’s included in a moving estimate and how is it estimated?
Your move estimate is free and will be based on distance, number and size of items to be moved, and services rendered. First, we’ll schedule an in-person meeting or virtual meeting to walk through your home and see how much there is in pack and move. Then, we’ll provide you with an upfront cost that will be adjusted if additional time or services are needed. We pride ourselves on fair, nearly-perfect estimates so know that we’ll get as close to the actual cost as we can when providing you with a moving quote.
Is weight a factor in my moving estimate?
No it isn’t. In fact, we don’t consider weight at all. Instead, local moving costs are determined by crew size and moving time. Long distance moving costs are determined by crew size, time, and mileage.
My move date changed – what do I do?
Contact your Daymakers team leader right away so we can adjust your move dates. We’ll process your change and find a new day and time that works for your schedule. Keep in mind that changing your date may require an estimate adjustment.
What happens if my possessions are lost/stolen/damaged?
Protecting your items during the move is our responsibility and we take it very seriously. But should something happen, we’ll work with you to find a resolution by filing a claim with our insurance company and dispersing fair compensation for any loss or damage.
Does weather affect my moving day?
For the most part, no. Come rain or shine, we’ll be there on time and ready to start your move. In VERY rare cases, severe weather has slightly postponed things, but we always complete our moves and do it as efficiently as possible.
We hope this cleared up a lot of your questions you may have going into moving day. If you’re ready to take the next step and start your moving plans, grab a FREE QUOTE right on our website! We’re excited to start this journey with you and in the end, make your day.
