When moving into a new home, organizing your garage seems like a daunting task – but it doesn’t have to be! Daymakers Moving & Storage is here to give you some tips on the best ways to organize your garage to keep it neat and tidy throughout the years!

Cleaning

Clean garage

Start with cleaning your new garage! Vacuum, use a Swiffer, and dust everything so you can start with a clean space. It will make your garage look inviting and will inspire you to want to make it into an organized storage space or even a space to hang out in!

See-Through Bins

Grab a bunch of see-through bins if you’re planning on storing some of your belongings in the garage. When you’re looking for air mattresses, tents, blankets, or anything else, this will make your search a lot easier. Sure, you could label a bunch of regular bins, but that search time will still take longer than just scanning the garage!

Tool Shelf

If you or someone in your household uses tools, get a tool shelf or cabinet and organize that as seamlessly as you can. Put the power tools in one area, cords, nuts, and bolts in another. It also helps if you put all of your specific screws, nuts, and bolts into glass jars. This will keep it super neat and allow for an easy search when you’re ready to use them!

Shelves

Aside from a tool shelf, building shelves into the wall or getting some easy-to-put-together plastic shelves will help with keeping the garage spacious. You can load all of your see-through bins, bike helmets, outdoor decor, and more on them and keep them out of the way. This will also help when you’re ready to go grab one of those items – easy as can be!

Wall Hooks/Racks

Wall hooks and racks will allow you to hang your bikes on the walls, roller skates, skateboards, and more. This also keeps the garage spacious and helps prevent wheels from losing air. Once you need your bike, just lift it off and you’re good to ride!

Ready to Hang-Out?

Once you’ve organized the parameters of your garage, you can decide to leave the middle area open for your car or make a hang-out spot! Put down a carpet, some couches or comfortable chairs, and even plug in a mini-refrigerator! This could be a great spot for Dad if he wants some time to himself, or teenage kids to hang out in.
