Researching and planning out where you want to live takes time, especially if it’s brand new to you. Depending on your hobbies and lifestyle, you’ll probably want to know what is around for you and your family to do. Are you into outdoor activities? Indoor activities? Are you a movie buff? Do you like to take small vacations not far from your home? These are all important things to consider when moving to a new spot. Thankfully, everyone here at Daymakers Moving & Storage understands how important this information is! So, we provided you with the top 10 things to do in Minnesota so you know if this is the right place for you!

Check out Voyageurs National Park!

According to travelwithaplan.com, this is one of the best places to visit in Minnesota! It consists of 500 islands, 655 miles of shoreline, and more than 200,000 acres of land and water, mostly only accessible by boat!

Take the family and go camping, fishing, hiking, and boating! If you’d rather find winter activities to do, you can snowmobile, ice fish, winter camping, and skiing!

Travel the North Shore Scenic Drive

Have you been to the North Shore Scenic Drive? If not, it’s a must! It’s a 154-mile scenic drive that extends from Duluth to Two Harbors, MN, and from Two Harbors to Grand Portage.

Why is this drive so special? It includes 7 state parks, as well as breathtaking views of Lake Superior and its surrounding cliffs, forests, and waterfalls! The one thing you must check out while you’re there is the Split Rock Lighthouse.

Have some fun at the Mall of America

Spend the day at Bloomington, Minnesota’s Mall of America! It’s the largest mall in the United States and holds many shops, dining, entertainment, and dozens of family-friendly attractions! Plus, it also has a Nickelodeon Universe theme park right in the center of the mall.

You can ride roller coasters, a log chute, Ferris wheel, bumper cars, and more!

Are you a sports fan?

Minneapolis, Minnesota is home to four professional sports teams and associated sports complexes. The home teams include:

Grab some tickets and attend the games to cheer on the home team!

Head over to Forestville and Forestville/Mystery Cave State Park

Located in Preston, MN is historic Forestville. It is a restored 1800s village operated by the Minnesota Historical Society. There are guided tours that allow you to see what life was like at the turn of the 20th century, as well as bring you to a general store filled with original 19th-century artifacts and merchandise.

The park features tours of Mystery Cave, camping, horseback riding, hiking trails, and fishing!

Visit Lanesboro’s Root River

Midwestliving.com describes this spot in three words: outdoors, agriculture, and arts. Lanesboro is located at the heart of the area’s paved multi-use trails, including the 42-mile Root River Valley Trail and the 18-mile Harmony-Preston Trail. You can bring your own bikes or simply rent one at the Little River General Store!

Grab a map before you head off on your trail and have fun!

Eagles in Wabasha

Have you ever seen an eagle? Now, you can! Located on the Mississippi, Wabasha is famous for its wintering eagle population! At the National Eagle Center, you can learn about resident eagles and see live eagles up close and personal.

There’s nothing like seeing beautiful, hard-to-find eagles so close!

Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness

This spot qualifies as a backpacker’s paradise, where paddles and boots replace motors, campfires replace ovens, and loons provide background music for everyone! You can paddle from lake to lake, and although solo trips are common, this is a fun opportunity for the whole family!

While you’re out there, keep your eyes peeled for moose, black bears, and eagles!

Elf Door at Demings Height Park

Do you believe in elves? If you’re visiting Demings Height Park, keep your eyes open for the infamous elf door, a mysterious little handmade door set at the base of an old tree. Rumor has it that the magical elf who lives inside the tree leaves treasures and twinkly trinkets inside the door for local children to find!

And for the Cherry on top, Spoonbridge and Cherry!

If you’re a fan of modern art and photo-ops, the Spoonbridge and Cherry is a very cool spot to visit. It was created in 1985 by artist Claes Oldenburg and his wife, Coosje van Bruggen.

Grab a blanket, set up a spot for a picnic, or simply go and enjoy the weather near a giant spoon! Can you imagine the fun selfies you can take!?

There are plenty of fun things to do in Minnesota beyond this list! If you’re moving out this way, we strongly recommend checking these spots out and doing some more research of your own to find other fun activities and places!
